New Timeline Announced for Glens Falls Farmers Market Move

Big things are still ahead for the Glens Falls Farmers Market, but for now, shoppers can continue to enjoy the indoor setup at Aviation Mall this May.

The summer market season officially kicks off Saturday, May 3, with summer hours (8 AM – 12 PM) and a fresh lineup of new and returning vendors. From delicious produce and artisan bread to handmade soaps, CBD products, and dog treats, the market is a community favorite for locally sourced goods and unique finds.

The decision to stay indoors was made after the construction timeline for the South Street Market Center was updated, allowing for an earlier-than-expected move-in this June. However, the shortened window made a temporary setup on Maple Street impractical. The market board extended its thanks to the Queensbury Hotel, the City of Glens Falls, and all supporters who helped explore the outdoor option.

Once the move to the new Market Center happens on June 7, visitors can expect a fresh chapter for the market in its long-anticipated, purpose-built space—designed to host vendors year-round and offer improved amenities and access for shoppers.

For now, mark your calendars for May 3, support your local vendors indoors at Aviation Mall, and stay tuned for the exciting debut of the Market Center this summer!

The Messenger House Will Bring New Life to Former Dango’s in Glens Falls

Opening Soon Sign

Big changes are coming to Glens Falls as longtime restaurateur Robert Neuweiler prepares to open The Messenger House at the former Dango’s on Maple Street. If you recognize the name, it’s because Neuweiler has been in the business for decades, previously running The Messy House on South Street and currently operating Spirits Tavern in Warrensburg.

His new spot is set to offer something the area has been missing—late-night dining. Neuweiler plans to serve food until 2:00 a.m., alongside breakfast, lunch, and dinner, making The Messenger House a go-to spot at any hour.

The restaurant name carries sentimental weight, honoring a family business that his relatives ran in Warrensburg from 1956 until a fire took it down in 1988. Neuweiler is focused on making this a welcoming, family-friendly restaurant with a spotless dining space. He’s putting his decades of experience to work, curating a menu that will include homemade favorites like chicken parmesan, lasagna, pizzas, burgers, and even shrimp cocktails—all at reasonable prices.

The restaurant will have up to 20 tables, a spacious 60-car parking lot, and a dozen or more employees. Plus, sports fans can look forward to 10 TVs showing all the major games, including pay-per-view events. Sundays will bring 75-cent wings, adding to the list of reasons to stop by.

With plans to open as early as St. Patrick’s Day—with free corned beef and cabbage for those who come to try the food—The Messenger House is shaping up to be a new local favorite. Keep an eye out for the official opening—you won’t want to miss it!

New Ownership, Same Great Harvest: Charlie Hoertkorn Takes the Reins

A pizza from the harvest with peppers, onions, mushrooms, pepperoni, and cheese.

The Harvest, a beloved Queensbury staple for over 50 years, has officially changed hands. Charlie Hoertkorn, a Queensbury grad and owner of The Horseshoe Bar & Grill in Saratoga, purchased the restaurant from Phil and Linda Hart, who opened it in 1972.

Charlie deeply respects the Harts' work and is committed to keeping The Harvest the same. As he told The Chronicle, he’s not planning major changes—"If I change the light bulbs, I’m going to be carried out with a pitchfork. People told me, don’t change the pizza, don’t change the wine pour,” he joked.

His family is also involved. His wife, Kelli, plays a role, and his sister, Kelly, with a background in coaching and teaching, will manage the front of house. His other sister, Catherine, and her husband, Mike DelSignore, are partners, ensuring the family-run feel remains.

Charlie’s restaurant career started in 2007 with Charlie’s BBQ. He later bought The Bullpen in Saratoga and eventually The Horseshoe. His friendships with local restaurant owners, including those at Talk of the Town and The Bullpen, helped make this transition possible.

Now leading The Harvest with his family, Charlie is excited to continue its legacy and ensure it remains a must-visit for locals and visitors alike.
